It's Here! "It's Just the Way I Talk" Empowers Children Who Stutter (Update!)

I'm thrilled to announce the official launch of our children's book, "It's Just the Way I Talk: Facts About Stuttering for Ages 5-8!" This engaging and informative resource builds on the success of my original book, "All About Stuttering," by offering a fresh perspective for a younger audience.

I've priced the book just slightly above cost to ensure it's accessible to as many families as possible. My dream is to get this book into the hands of every child who stutters. Every child deserves to feel confident about their voice.

A Book that Celebrates Communication Differences:

"It's Just the Way I Talk" goes beyond simply explaining stuttering. It empowers children who stutter by:
  • Celebrating their unique communication styles: The book fosters confidence and acceptance by showing stuttering as a normal part of communication.
  • Making information engaging: Age-appropriate illustrations and data visualizations make complex concepts easy to understand for young readers.
  • Focusing on strengths: The book encourages children to identify their strengths, develop self-advocacy skills, and explore the stuttering community, rather than focusing solely on "fixing" the stutter.
  • Providing expanded resources: Updated information and guidance for parents, teachers, and speech-language pathologists (SLPs) offers valuable support for everyone involved in a child's life.
  • Additionally, it fosters empathy and inclusivity in non-stuttering children by promoting understanding and acceptance of communication differences.

A Review for Parents and Educators:

This book is invaluable for parents, teachers, and therapists, as it promotes empathy and confidence in kids who stutter. It's a must-read that makes a significant difference in understanding and accepting speech differences. Highly recommend 😊

About the Author:

I'm a speech-language pathologist with over 24 years working with children. I've seen firsthand the impact stuttering can have on self-esteem, and how so many children, and their adults, lack basic facts about their condition. I created this book to help children understand stuttering, realize they are not alone, and build the confidence to communicate freely.
